This is Exactly What We Need Right Now

A friend, now in Japan, tossed some of his ideas. I thought a few of you may find this amusing..^^
This Is Exactly What We Need Right Now
Israel continues to bomb southern Lebanon into oblivion hoping to root out Hezbollah members, killing hundreds of civilians. The headlines these past few days have almost always focused on this crisis. The U.S. government must be quite relieved to have a conflict abroad overshadowing the revelation that more and more fascist elements have crept into the military, the forgotten investigation into the killings of civilians in Iraq, the raping of an Iraqi girl and the murder of her family by Steve Green, and countless other incidents, not to mention all that goes on at Guatanamo, and the lucrative arms sales. There are always those who stand to benefit from wars, and in this case the U.S. is benefiting in more ways than one.Of course, very few noticed that the WTO talks trying to revive the Doha round collapsed a few days ago after 5 years of deliberation. "Talks to slash barriers to global commerce collapsed yesterday after senior World Trade Organization players failed to agree on scaling back farm trade protectionism -- the core issue in this ill-fated round." The Europeans blame the Americans for not agreeing to cut farm subsidy deeper, the Americans accuse the Europeans for subsidizing farmers too much, the Canadians express disappoinment at the failed talk while cheering inside that they can continue subsidizing their agriculture sector! The developing world protests to no avail, feeling powerless and hopeless. In the midst of all this, what we need is for Ethiopia to declare war on Somalia! Great, two starving countries are going to fight each other because Ethiopia wants to save its ally (the Somalian "government", if you can even call them that considering what little governing they have done over the past year; Somalia has been a de facto anarchy) from the Islamic warlords, chanelling what little resources they have into purchasing more AK 47s making the arms dealers happy, making them feel macho, while their citizens starve to death. In a what resembles hell, we will soon have Uganda declaring war on Ethiopia because they signed some sort of stupid treaty with the Somalian warlords, then Sudan declares war on Uganda, then Djibouti and Eritrea take advantage of the situation to rid Ethiopia once and for all join force and declare war on Ethiopia, then Kenya will be dragged in due to its security pact with Ethiopia and Sudan! Perfect situation! Ladies and Germs, we have a regional war in the Horn of Africa. That is exactly what the people of those countries/we/the world need right now!
